Hello friends and family,
You know that sympathy line that people always say when you've been single for way too long or just havn't found "the right one"? The one that you're tired of hearing? Yup, that's the one.... "It will happen when you least expect it." Well I can now say that this is 100% true. Read along for "Our story."
We were both exhausted with the online dating scene and had both decided seperatly to give it one final shot before the end of the year. As I was swiping through Facebook Dating that cold December night, I came across this tall, blue collar, bearded, grumpy looking man (he wasn't smiling) who lived right up the street! That would be a win!! Although skeptical of his disgruntled demeanor, I was intrigued and wanted to know more.
Steve said "it was love at first swipe." This cheesy line put my "RED FLAG RADAR" on high alert and I became discouraged, ready to chalk this one up to just another one of those pesky love bombers. However, after the way he just stared at me our first two dates I decided he really did seem pretty smitten with me, to say the least.
One of our early dates sticks out in my mind. It was our second date and on our way home, I got a flat tire. Calling Steve, without hesitation, he came to my rescue. Showing off his manly skills earned major points in my book. Everything seemed to be going really well when he asked to wash his hands in my house. In appreciation for his kindness I eagerly showed him the way. As I opened the door we were met with a pungent odor of cat poop! I had just adopted two kittens and with perfect timing, they decided to relieve themselves inside one of my plants while I was out to dinner. I was so embarrassed!! Being the gentleman he is, he reassured me that he was not bothered by the smell, hugged me and went along his way.
I was ready to bet money that this was the end of our short lived fairytale but just 15 minutes later he texted me to tell me what a great time he had. That very week we had 3 more dates and really... the rest is history.
It was supposed to be a simple beach trip but turned into one of the happiest moments of my life. After a beautiful fall, sunset dinner, we set off to stroll the shoreline. Suddenly I see a setup that read "MARRY ME." I was so overcome with joy that I didn't even give him a chance to finish the question before jumping into his arms.
This past year has been absolutely amazing and I think we can both confidently say "when you know, you know."
Together, we've faced the challenge of blending our families and Steve has been my rock through it all. On both my good and bad days, he's held my hand and reassured me that everything will be okay.
Our hopes and dreams for the future include creating a loving home for our children and nurturing an ever lasting friendship with many memories to come.
Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we can't wait to celebrate with all of you on our special day.
With Love,
Megan and Steve
